The class 45 heavy freight locomotive was the most powerful steam locomotive ever to run on German tracks. Originally, these heavy freight locomotives were intended to speed up freight train traffic on main lines. They were to replace the G 12 and supplement the class 44 upward. Like the class 41, they therefore had a larger driving and coupling wheel diameter of 1600 millimeters than the other unit freight locomotives with 1,400 millimeters. Their maximum permissible speed was therefore 90 km\/h instead of 80 km\/h.<\/p>\n

The first two prototypes of the three-cylinder steam locomotive were built by Henschel in 1936 and 1937. In 1940, another 26 locomotives were delivered - unfortunately, series production never really got off the ground, because with the outbreak of World War II in 1939, the decision was made to allocate production resources solely to the 52 series.<\/p>\n

The model is, as far as possible, a perfect representation of the real prototype which should not be missing on any layout. In the design process, the optics were in the foreground this time, which is why this locomotive is also something for the experienced farmer \/ in. The filigree construction can be a little difficult to build in some places, but what do you do for a perfect model.<\/p>\n

Due to the realistic proportions of the well-known steam locomotive, especially in the undercarriage area, the model also needs a realistic radius (at least R72).<\/p>\n

The model can be motorized by means of two L-motors. The battery box is located in the tender, the infrared receiver in the cab: for details see the cab.
