Das Grundkonzept entspricht weitgehend den Vectron DE, wobei entsprechend der Funktionserweiterung und der technischen Weiterentwicklung \u00c4nderungen vorgenommen wurden. Die Zweikraftlokomotiven gibt es in zwei Varianten: der in Deutschland als Reihe 248 bezeichneten Vectron Dual Mode und der als Reihe 249 bezeichneten Vectron Dual Mode light. Die Reihe 248 wurde 2019 vorgestellt und seither von mehreren Kunden gekauft. DB Cargo hat 50 Lokomotiven der Variante Dual Mode light bestellt.
