Because the locomotives of the 01 and 03 series were only approved for 120 km\/h and 130 km\/h respectively and did not allow higher speeds due to the 2-cylinder engine, the Deutsche-Reichsbahn-Gesellschaft ordered the 01.10 series. These steam locomotives had a 3-cylinder engine, which ran more quietly than a 2-cylinder engine, especially at high speeds. A characteristic feature was the streamlined cowling, which reduced fuel consumption, but it made cooling when stationary and maintenance of the engine more difficult.<\/p>\n

Despite the need for 400 class 01.10 locomotives, the DRG ordered only 209 units from all the major locomotive factories. Due to the Second World War, however, only 55 units were built - all by BMAG.<\/p>\n

After the war, all the machines remained in West Germany. As with many locomotives procured by the DRG, the boiler was made of St47k steel, which was not resistant to ageing. Due to the lack of locomotives, some locomotives with minor damage were repaired.<\/p>\n

The class 01.10 later became the Bundesbahn's top performer in passenger transport.<\/p>\n

In the design process the focus was on the form language of the streamline fairing, but nevertheless the model should also be drivable, which is why small gaps in the fairing were unavoidable, furthermore the minimum radius is R56. The model can be motorised with a Powerfunctions traction and Lmotor, battery box and IR receiver find their place in the tender.<\/p>\n
