The class 80 was developed to make shunting more economical. They could travel at speeds of up to 45 km/h and 39 were built. The hot steam locomotive was managed by both German railway administrations after the war. After their use on the state railways, some locomotives were sold to VEBs or to large steel or coal mine companies.

The model can be motorised using the Lego Powered Up System and a 21980 motor. It is also suitable for radius 40 and turnouts.
