The original model has classic, but low-built driving bogies and has a short middle section with loose wheels. The low-floor proportion is about 70 %. The bogies have air suspension for excellent running. The trams were purchased by the Karlsruhe transport authority starting in 1995. The manufacturer here was Duewag/Adtranz/Siemens. The trams weigh 38.2 tons at empty weight, have 4x 127 kW engines and 88 seats as well as 86 standing places. In addition to the 6-axle version, the trams are also available in an 8-axle version. This tram type was the first low-floor tram for Karlsruhe.
