Between 1925 and 1927, the Berlin tramway procured a large number of type 1925 vehicles to replace worn-out old cars. After the BVG was founded, the cars were given the new designation T 24.
When designing these lightweight carriages, the focus was on a simple but robust construction with low-cost technical equipment. The diverse fleet of coaches was also to be technically standardised. The design was based on the type Ui3, which had been converted from the Berolina coaches a few years earlier.
After the Second World War, the BVG East Berlin and BVG West Berlin modernised the carriages in various ways. In addition to purely technical modifications, the car bodies were also rebuilt. In the mid-1960s, both companies took them out of service and some vehicles were converted into work cars. In addition, several museum vehicles exist today, some of which are operational.
Die T 24 fanden Ende der 60er Jahre, zusammen mit anderen Altbautypen, beim Reko-Programm der DDR beim Bau der sogenannten Rekowagen Verwendung, die in Berlin bis Mitte der 90er Jahre in Betrieb standen.
The model is set up for minifigures and fits on the standard track system. It is compatible with R40 curves and points. The simple coupling is compatible with other TW Bricks tram models.
