The BB 9200 is a French electric locomotive series for use on the SNCF direct current network with 1.5 kV. The locomotives were built by Creusot-Loire, Jeumont-Schneider and CEM between 1957 and 1964.
At the beginning of their service life, the locomotives of the series hauled the famous passenger trains of the south-west region, starting from Austerlitz station in Paris in the direction of Toulouse and Bordeaux. They are best known for their use in front of the Le Capitole express train between Paris and Toulouse. It was the first train in Europe to run at a scheduled speed of 200 km/h. The six BB 9200s (nicknamed BB rouges) specially equipped for the Capitole were the first SNCF express locomotives (maximum speed over 160 km/h) in scheduled long-distance service.
This locomotive is an SNCF BB 9200 Le Capitole.
