The steam locomotive known to us today as class 53 001, 53 Borsig or 53 1001 existed only on the drawing board. In 1943, the Deutsche Reichsbahn Gesellschaft placed orders for a super-heavy war locomotive that was to pull long goods trains in the occupied territories in Eastern Europe. It was also intended as a successor to the class 52, as these were only supposed to run until the end of the war.
It is no longer possible to say whether construction of the 53 1001 was started. It would probably not have been given the designation 53, because the 50 numbers were intended for the lighter freight locomotives, so the designation 46 would have been more likely.
With this model, a lot of emphasis was placed on realistic detailing of the power unit. The model is drivable on the r56 radius and can be motorised with two traction engines and one L-engine.
