The Admiral Hipper was a heavy cruiser and the type ship of the Admiral Hipper class of the German Kriegsmarine in World War II.
The cruiser was ordered as Kreuzer H and was the second ship of its class. As there were delays in the construction of the actual type ship Blücher, the Admiral Hipper, built by Blohm & Voss in Hamburg, was launched as the first ship of her class.
The ship was named after Franz von Hipper, commander of the reconnaissance forces (BdA) in the Battle of Skagerrak and later commander-in-chief of the Imperial Navy's High Seas Fleet in World War I.
The design of the model shows the Admiral Hipper in her 1943 camouflage before her decommissioning.
The turrets are all 4 rotatable and so for presentation different gun and tube angles can be displayed
