Between 1967 and 1987, numerous vehicles of this type were delivered to many tramway companies in the GDR. They were also often seen in other Eastern European countries. They were manufactured in Prague. The T4Ds were derived from the T3 type, the most widely built tramcar of all time with around 11,000 units worldwide. However, because these were too wide for most of the GDR's streetcar networks, a technically almost identical version with a 30-centimeter narrower carbody was developed. So-called large trains were often used, consisting of two railcars and a trailer. The vehicles impressed with their large capacity, robustness and good acceleration compared to older vehicle types.
Even today, there are a few vehicles in Germany that have been modernized or converted into work cars. In addition, there are numerous museum specimens.
The model shows the paint scheme of the first construction series and consists of a railcar (T4D) and a sidecar (B4D). The bogies are suitable for the R40 curve radius and switch passages. The cars have simple but functional couplers.
