The E 40 series is a standard electric locomotive for freight transport that was first built for the Deutsche Bundesbahn in 1957. Since 1968, it has been known as the class 140 or class 139. For a long time, it carried the main load of goods train traffic on electrified lines, but was also used in local passenger traffic. In October 2016, after almost 60 years, the scheduled use of the class 140 ended at DB Cargo. However, the locomotives are still in service with various private transport companies.

The locomotive represents the blue-beige version with slatted fan grilles and angular engine room window.

It can be equipped with a Powerd Up drive or with a 9Volt drive.

The minimum radius is R40.
