The Siemens ES64U2 are electric locomotives of the EuroSprinter family from the manufacturer Siemens Transportation Systems. The locomotives have been operated by ÖBB since 2000 as series 1016 and 1116 and under the protected designation Taurus. Deutsche Bahn owns 26 locomotives of this type (operated as class 182), the Hungarian railway company Magyar Államvasutak and Raaberbahn/GySEV operate them as class 470, and Hector Rail owns seven locomotives (operated as class 242). In addition, there are numerous locomotives at private railway companies in Germany and Austria.
The locomotive is fully R40 compatible. The locomotive can be equipped with one or two powered up systems. One or two 9V motors can also be installed.
The locomotive represents the red ÖBB version.
