The Br 39 marks Prussia's last development of a passenger locomotive, at the same time it is the most powerful passenger locomotive of the Länderbahn. A total of 260 examples, which already anticipated many features of the standardised locomotives, were built with the participation of a total of 6 locomotive factories. However, the steam locomotive had problems with the air supply, as well as the personnel had difficulties with the kindling of the fire. Nevertheless, they fulfilled their design goal of pulling heavy trains through the low mountain ranges satisfactorily.

The DR in the then GDR reconstructed its class 39 locomotives, they were given the new number 22.

The model shows the operating condition around 1926, with two lanterns and large wind deflectors.
